.
UNFPA in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Women's Affairs organized the official launch of the first study on the prevalence of breast and cervical cancer and human papillomavirus infection on June 7, 2022.
The overall objective of this study is to estimate the prevalence of breast and cervical cancer and HPV infection among Djiboutian women.
In Djibouti, according to Globocan 2020 data, breast and cervical cancer were the most common cancers and the main causes of cancer mortality.
The implementation of this study in Djibouti represents a high priority for the government of Djibouti to prevent and control cancer in women. Thus, the results of this study will allow decision makers to develop a national cancer control strategy and facilitate their management, as well as to plan and implement targeted actions and interventions to reduce mortality from these types of cancers.
